100 Days Of Illo & Stitch • DAY 1 and 2 • Botanical Moon

Choosing the topic for this year’s 100 day project was a no-brainer for a change. Usually, I’m mulling over the perfect idea for weeks ahead, but this time I just knew it has to involve embroidery, because man, I’m in one blazing affair with needle and thread right now. Lately, I’ve started experimenting with stitching on paper, and I got hooked immediately. And that’s how I came up with the 100 Days Of Illo & Stitch challenge.

It’s quite a time-consuming project because I’ll be combining watercolor and gouache painting with hand-stitched elements. At least for now, I decided to work in A4 format (about 8×10 inches). That’s why I’ll be giving myself two days for finishing one composition – one day for painting and one day for stitching. I wish I could crank out 100 of these in 100 days; alas, I still have a day job to keep (and I also love to sleep).

It’s been a while since I was so excited about anything art related, and I think I finally conquered my artist block, so keep your fingers crossed!
